Kitchen cabinets are one of the larger investments in your home. Whether you pick wood kitchen cabinets, white cabinets, or something else altogether, here are a few trends for you to think about.

1. Pan Drawer

Pan drawers have been an option with kitchen cabinets for some time, but no one took advantage of their unique style and convenience. Instead of lower cabinets with a shallow silverware drawer on top of a cabinet door, pan drawers are cabinetry units that feature three to four stacked drawers of varying depths. The design makes it much easier to access the entire space without getting on your hands and knees to dig an item out from the back.

2. Color Block

Kitchens are increasingly being designed with a color block of kitchen cabinets. This style could appear as dark base cabinets with white uppers or wood kitchen cabinets with a kitchen island in a bright color, like blue or green.

3. Dark

White kitchen cabinets have been the go-to choice when remodeling kitchens for well over a decade, but their popularity is beginning to wane in 2021 and beyond. In fact, homeowners are leaning towards dark cabinetry, particularly navy and dark gray. These colors are often accented with brass hardware instead of the ubiquitous silver or brushed bronze.

4.Straight

Staggered upper kitchen cabinets were a short-lived and controversial trend. You either liked staggered uppers or you didn't. The style, which featured upper cabinets of varying heights as a design feature, has once again been replaced by cabinets at a uniform and level height.

5. Open Shelving

Another popular kitchen cabinet trend is to replace all or part of the upper cabinets with open shelving. This style idea creates a relaxed cottage or modern farmhouse feel that appeals to many of today's homeowners.

6. Rustic Wood Accents

Complementing wood kitchen cabinets with rustic wood elements is a trend that is gaining steam for 2021. From reclaimed wood floors, open, wood shelving, and even rustic wood posts, homeowners like the juxtaposition of modern kitchen cabinets against rustic wood elements.

7. Appliance Panels

Stainless steel appliances have been popular for quite some time, but buyers are now turning to appliance panels instead. Appliance panels match the kitchen cabinets and are designed to slide into a channel in your dishwasher, wine cooler, and refrigerator. They create a seamless and uniform look in today's kitchen.

While kitchen cabinet trends come and go, the overall key is to choose quality products in a design that makes you happy.
