If you're looking for the perfect way to add a touch of elegance to your new master suite, start with the bathtub. Today's bathtubs don't just have to be there to get you clean; they can also be there to compliment your bathroom, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home. This is particularly true when it comes to your master suite. You want to think of your master suite as your private sanctuary. Now that it's time to choose a bathtub for your new master suite, don't settle for a standard model. Instead, choose a natural stone bathtub. They're beautiful to look at, come in a wide variety of designs, and will last for many years to come. Once you have your stone tub installed, you'll want to give it the care that it deserves. Here are three simple maintenance instructions that will keep your stone tub looking as beautiful as it did the day it was installed.
Normal Daily Care
When it comes to your stone bathtub, normal daily care will help keep it clean and residue-free. It's not difficult to give your stone tub the care it needs each day. All you need to do is wipe it down after each use. The best way to do that is with a soft, scratch-resistant cloth. Once you've drained the tub, rinse it well with fresh water. Next, use your soft cloth to wipe it dry. Be sure to get inside the tub, as well as along the edges. It's also important for you to wipe the faucet and drain down, as well. Wiping your tub down after each use will help keep normal body oils, and soap scum away.
Monthly Preventative Care
About once a month, you'll need to give your stone tub a deep cleaning. The deep cleaning will help remove hard water deposits, and restore the luster of your natural stone. First, rinse the inside of your tub, and apply a small amount of non-abrasive liquid cleanser. Next, wet a soft, scratch-resistant sponge, and scrub your tub. Be sure to move your sponge in a circular, over-lapping motion. This will allow the stone to be buffed while it's being cleaned. Finally, rinse the tub with fresh water, and dry with your soft, scratch-resistant cloth.
As-Needed Damage Care
Occasionally, your stone tub will develop a scratch, or two. They're usually nothing to worry about, and can be removed with some light scouring. If you notice a scratch in your tub, use the method described above to wash the area. Once you've rinsed the area with fresh water, use the scouring side of a sponge, to buff the scratch. Move in a light, circular motion until the scratch is gone. Wash the area again, rinse with fresh water, and dry with your soft cloth.
